Meet Summer, Interior Stylist superstar whose passion for color and eclectic design have rocked the AirBnb rental sphere. We sat down with Summer and got the inside scoop on hot design trends and easy & affordable ways to elevate your space.
Summer Wilson, retired NFL Ravens Cheerleader turned Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model/Corporate Saleswoman, has harbored a life-long passion for designing spaces that create a distinctive experience.
Using her own home as a blank canvas, she unleashed her creative spirit, adding splashes of color and patterns to every room. Making her own space into an encapsulating experience motivated her to share her projects on social media. She soon realized there was a demand for her kind of style – For Summer’s style.
Bold pops of color, and the use of different shapes and patterns makes Summer’s style stand out, as it is uniquely chic. The playfulness of color combined with elegant statement pieces help build upon her principle of making sure each room in a home is a cozy yet dynamic experience.
“I’m over grass walls. I think moss, oddly enough, is starting to come in instead. Or instead of just like the cheap looking grass walls, they’re fine, but they are, I think, trending out using actual, like going to Michael’s and getting like actual fronds and playing with those. So it looks more realistic than just a flat green wall with a neon sign” Summer says, when asked about upcoming and fading trends. Summer also explained that uplighting is another way to enhance your living space without breaking the bank. “It adds such a sexy, moody light to your apartment and it’s not as harsh as overhead lighting.”
Here are Summer’s quick rules of thumb when it comes to styling your home and where to start.
-
Choose your starting point of inspiration. Summer chose No Signal, by artist Underdott for her living room decor inspiration. Pulling colors from the print for her accent pieces like pillows and rug, and neutrals for her furniture.
-
Measure Everything! Measure the spaces you are filling, whether that is with artwork, wall hangings or furniture for the perfect fit.
-
Get the Staples and Don’t Veer Away from Comfort. Get the big comfy couch, then the rug to go underneath it, a cool coffee table, and do not over-clutter.
