The Color of the Year (COTY) season is officially underway! This title is awarded to colors predicted by paint companies and trend experts to be the dominant hue for the coming year. While numerous brands offer their predictions, there are usually patterns in color choices that become apparent. For instance, sage greens dominated last year, while light blues are prevalent this year. Here’s a rundown of the 2024 Colors of the Year announced so far:
Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year: Blue Nova
This year, the aerospace company Blue Origin partnered with Benjamin Moore to unveil Blue Nova, a celestial blue-purple. This shade contrasts with the warmer Raspberry Blush from 2023. Andrea Magno, the company’s color expert, highlighted the shade’s luxurious feel and comforting undertone.
Sherwin-Williams’ Color of the Year: Upward
This periwinkle tint was introduced in a unique way – atop a vegan Cronut. Sherwin-Williams describes Upward as fresh, serene, and timely.
Graham & Brown’s Color of the Year: Viridis
Graham & Brown, a British decor brand, chose Viridis, a sage hue. This shade seamlessly bridges the outdoors and indoors, offering a fresh alternative to traditional neutral tones.
Glidden’s Color of the Year: Limitless
Echoing Y2K vibes, Glidden introduced a pale yellow, Limitless. Emphasizing its adaptability, the brand declared gray out of fashion.
