MacroArt is the proprietary process of creating small fine art pieces by hand and scanning them at high resolution for use in print or digital applications. The result is amplified hand-made artwork. Evidence of technique, materials, and human touch is palpable in these ultrahigh resolution images.

Over the last 15 years, my MacroArt has evolved with the textural elements and tones becoming tighter and more interesting at larger sizes. I have placed an emphasis on creating more dynamic compositions that work as individual works of art or in conjunction with other MacroArt images. The whole process has become its own genre and a look that is unique.

MacroArt is an expedition into art worlds less traveled. My goal with every piece is to create interesting, contemporary art that pushes the boundaries of what is possible when hand rendered art and technology collaborate.

I am inspired by artists in any medium that take the time to incubate and execute ambitious ideas that break new ground and challenge the status quo.

I’m working on a body of oil paintings inspired by early photography of the American West. Born and raised in Colorado, it was just a matter of time before I turned my attention towards home.

I’m creating a series of oil paintings called the ‘Elevation Series’ which depicts notable mountains and famous ski lines to help celebrate the ambitions of skiers and alpinists. Most mountain-scapes tend to be vague landscapes with the mountain as a backdrop from an onlooker’s perspective, not from a participant. I used early black and white imaging of American West as an inspiration for capturing the gritty, timeless quality of these peaks. By adding subtle tones and more contemporary compositions (with a skier’s perspective), I hope to pay homage to all of the explorers and ski industry innovators that have made these mountains accessible.

I love playing guitar. It tends to be a creative outlet for me. It is hard to imagine that a full time artist needs a ‘creative outlet’, but art, like any profession, can be a grind. Having something that challenges me creatively in a different way is inspiring…. and I just love music.
