A$AP Rocky Reimagines a Modernist Home in Los Angeles

A New Take on a Historic Space

A$AP Rocky is stepping further into design. He recently furnished a well-known modernist home in Los Angeles through a collaboration with Basic.Space.

The home was originally designed by Rudolph Schindler. His work helped shape early California modernism.

Instead of restoring the space in a traditional way, Rocky took a different approach. He treated the home as a creative project, filling it with pieces that reflect his own taste.

The result feels personal rather than historically strict.

Mixing Design Eras and Influences

The interior blends modernist architecture with both vintage and contemporary design.

Rocky included pieces from designers like Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand. These are paired with less expected selections, creating contrast throughout the space.

Nothing feels overly matched. Each object stands on its own, while still working within the home.

This approach gives the space a layered and collected feel.

Designed as an Experience

The home was presented as a Basic.Space activation in Los Angeles. Visitors were able to walk through the space and experience it in person.

Many of the pieces are also available to purchase through the platform. This connects the installation directly to collectible design.

The project shows how a historic space can be reinterpreted without losing its identity. It also highlights how creatives outside of traditional design roles are influencing interiors today.
