At 15 years old, Zenja Gammer installed Photoshop on his computer, not realizing he was about to be hooked. From there, he embarked upon a career path after earning a degree as a visual designer in Amsterdam. Today, he is a full-time freelance visual designer and digital artist living in Russia, where he enjoys creating digital art featuring animals and other creatures.

Q&A
What is your goal with your artwork?
My goal is to connect the beauty of wildlife with art. The positive feedback I get on my work motivates me to create.
Who/what are your biggest creative influences?
I am mostly influenced by wildlife photographers. I like to keep my work realistic, that’s why I always get inspiration from real photos instead of digital artwork. There’s a bunch of great wildlife photographers.
Do your current or past locations influence your artistic choices?
Since I have been living in Russia I have been creating a lot more, so it definitely changed the the way I spent my time designing.
What projects are you currently working on?
I am working on a series of Children’s Books right now. For the next few months I am also starting to work on a full course to help others start creating. Other than that, I do commissioned work for clients regularly, and when I have free time I create tutorials or make new artwork myself.
How did you acquire your nickname?
My name is Zenja but when I was a teenager I used to play games online, that’s where I started using the name Zenz. When I started creating I added design to it, Zenzdesign.
What other hobbies do you have?
Playing piano, going to the gym, traveling, and gaming.
