Sweeping strokes of blue and icy white at the lower part of the scene evoke the brisk, open expanse of a frozen landscape. Just above, a warm band of amber and yellow cuts through, a contrast that is reminiscent of a late afternoon glow over a wintry scene. Wispy strokes of white and pale blue at the top soften the transition, suggesting a chilly, overcast sky clearing just before dusk.
